I also watch for consistency, not just one good workout. If I can repeat those clean reps across multiple sessions, I'm more confident that I'm ready to go heavier instead of getting fooled by a random strong day.

When the last rep looks like the first, it's time. 😤

I use double progression. First, I build up my reps with the same weight, then increase the load and work my way back up through the rep range. It keeps progressive overload simple and measurable.

For compound lifts like squats and bench press, I pay attention to both performance and recovery. If I'm hitting my target reps consistently, keeping my setup tight, and recovering well before my next session, I'll increase the load slightly instead of making a huge jump that wrecks my form.

Small jumps, clean reps, steady gains. That's the move! 🏋️

That's a good point! I think a lot of us get caught up chasing PRs and forget that better technique is progress too. I'd rather add five pounds with solid reps than go heavier and turn every set into a struggle. 📈

I look at how my last couple of sessions went. If the same weight feels more controlled and I'm hitting extra reps without grinding through every set, that's usually my sign to increase it.

If I'm swinging the weight, I'm not ready yet. 😂

I used to add weight every week because I thought that was the only way to grow, but my technique started getting worse. Now I focus on controlling the eccentric, getting a full range of motion, and owning every rep before moving up. My strength has actually improved more consistently this way. 🔥

I follow a rep range for each exercise. Once I can hit the top end on every set without my form breaking down, I bump the weight up a little.
